About Chateau Bellevue 2016 Medoc, Cru Bourgeois

Here’s an outstanding 2016 Medoc Bordeaux that’s a stunning value! Chateau Bellevue is a family-owned Chateau run by Mr. Yves Lassalle. It was granted Cru Bourgeois status in 1978 and the owners have devoted themselves to grape growing and quality winemaking. The estate has 67 acres of vines located on the edge of the Gironde, composed of 5 vineyard blocks. The largest block is located on the plateau de la Magnotte, known for producing the best wines of the commune. The soils and subsoils are a mix of chalky clay and gravelly clay and the vines average a mature 35 years of age. Located not far from Saint Estephe, the plantings are 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
This wine from the excellent 2016 vintage is a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The grapes are all hand harvested and fermented at controlled temperature. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for between 18 and 24 months depending upon the variety.
